Suggested Legal Language for Estate Gifts
1. PERCENT BEQUEST
I give to THE SALVATION ARMY, an Illinois Corporation, located in (City), (State) to be used only in (City), (State), _____ percentage of the value of my estate, including cash, securities and real estate to be used for general operating purposes.
2. BENEFICIARY DESIGNATIONS
You can name THE SALVATION ARMY, an Illinois Corporation, as beneficiary of any of the following assets:

3. ENDOWMENT

I give to The Salvation Army (Tax #36-2167910), a not-for-profit corporation organized under the laws of the state of Illinois and located in Hoffman Estates, IL: (choose one)

In the event The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, determines that the use of this gift for the preferences stated is no longer legal, practical, or possible of performance, or for other good and lawful reason, then said preferences should be changed, and The Salvation Army shall use this fund for such purposes as it, in its sole discretion, determines will best promote the mission of The Salvation Army.
DESIGNATIONS:
To any of the suggested language listed above, the following can be added to ensure your gift is directed according to your wishes:
Restricted Gift: "to be used for _________________ (designate purpose: feeding programs, camp, disaster services, or other specific programs or ministries)."
Honor or Memorial Gift: "in honor of or memory of _________________ (designate name of person/s to be honored)."
